The Western Brief is a Perth-based newsletter that explains global affairs in clear and simple language, with a particular focus on what they mean for Western Australia. International events can often feel distant, complicated or difficult to follow. This publication aims to make them easier to understand by breaking down the key facts, explaining why they matter and connecting them to life here in WA. I’m Mahir, a Master of International Law and Master of International Relations student with a strong interest in global affairs. I will always see myself as a student of the world. Things change quickly, there is always more to learn, and no one can know everything. My hope is that The Western Brief becomes a place where we can learn together, ask better questions and make a little more sense of the world around us.
